Volkswagen has officially started production of the ID.3, its first electric car on the new MEB platform. This marked the start of the conversion of its massive Zwickau factory from petrol-powered car production to EV production. Pre-orders of this milestone electric car can be placed in June and deliveries are expected to take place as of September 2020.
Previously, the Zwickau factory produced several versions of the Volkswagen Golf, as well as bodies for the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus. The factory production capacity is over 250,000 vehicles per year. From our plant Radsystem Mosel, Eurofit, a long term partner, will deliver the TWA’s, consolidating our expertise in electric vehicles requirements.
